ON FARM CHALLENGE 2010

Victorian members of the Red Angus Society wish to issue an invitation to you to participate in the 2010 ‘On Farm Challenge to be conducted during the week
19th - 22nd April 2010.
Please find a link to the Entry Form and the Rules pertaining to the competition here or in the Download section. Cattle will be judged on your property conducted by using a points scoring system. Maximum points = 100. The judge to be appointed.
Entries in the competition are not to be specially prepared.
ie. – no lead-up feeding, no clipping, no leading or preparation is required.
The entries must conform to the Breeds Standard of Excellence.
They just have to be yarded on the day for judging purposes.
A yard with a hard surface is preferable if possible.
Entries must be in the hands of Bob Boote by Monday 15th April, 2010 in order that a schedule of arrangements for the judging can be organised. Late entry will not be accepted however if you need to wait to the last minute, a telephone call to Bob to advise the entry is coming will help enormously.
Presentations to the winners will be made at a special function to be held during the Bendigo National Beef event on Friday, 21st May. This will be held at the National Hotel Motel, 182-186 High Street, Bendigo followed by celebrations and a Dinner.
This also gives you a great opportunity to be part of occasion to ‘showcase’ what Red Angus Victoria is doing with a ‘show stand’ promoting the breed. It will also give you a chance to attend this great event at Bendigo Exhibition Centre where a large number of cattle breeds will be assembled for the National Show. Last year there were in excess of 700 animals, the cost is free and the experience invaluable.
Get your entries in soon as this On Farm Challenge event is a lot of fun, and it is expected to be keenly contested this year with a 100 head or more. I urge all Commercial Breeders to give consideration to entering as last year a Commercial Breeder showed us how, so don’t miss your opportunity this year.
