About the property:
Our property consists of 25 hectacres of flood irrigated land in the Goulburn Valley (20 mins N.E of Shepparton). Annual rye grasses are grown. We start them off in mid March and go through to December. The last few seasons have been very hard due to low water allocations. The cows however have performed very well with steers selling at the top end of our local markets.
Kingsbrook Red Angus was founded in April 2006. After considering some other breeds, we made our decision. Red Angus had the size and structure we were looking for. We purchased our first six cows from Bob Knott, Ferndale Park. In Nov 2007 we purchased the complete line of 'B' heifers from Ken Dugmore, Hillview. These heifers originated from a selection of Ferndale Park cows. These cows were selected by Ken to start his own stud. We purchased the remaining 14 females from Ken when he retired. Our herd sire, Ferndale Park Bust Y159 (Sleepy), also arrived at this time. What a wonderful start to get! The best families from Ferndale Park represented, including some that were directly imported from Canada.
We have a split calving pattern. Autumn and Spring. We use a selection of bulls from Ferndale Park. We have also used some new A.I. sires.
We have now reached our maximum number of breeders and have a selection of females for sale. We do not intend to show for the next few years. As well as running our dairy farm, Hayley has showjumping and school commitments. We are therefore prepared to sell a number of quality animals.
