About the property:
The property is divided into two portions with 120 acres situated within the City of Warrnambool boundary and 80 acres to the immediate north of Dixons Lane in the Moyne Shire.
The headwaters of Russells Creek flow through the property in a good year when we receive our normal rainfall of 30-35 inches.
The cattle handling facilities are undercover which has huge advantages in handling and creature comfort both human and bovine.
About the herd:
Initially our first encounter with the Red Angus breed was in 1996 when a Stock agent suggested the use of a Red Angus bull to overcome the calving difficulties being experienced. In 1997 the purchase of Red Angus commercial cows from Fairburn Red Angus at Apollo Bay proved to be a good decision and in 1999 the addition of a bull from Bob Knott at Victor Harbour convinced us that this breed of cattle were excellent in every aspect. The herd of cattle which Bob Knott displayed to us were super and it was Bob who convinced me to start breeding seedstock, to become a Councillor for the breed in Victoria and the rest is history. His advice was great and no disappointment has been experienced in anyway. The joy of owning, handling and breeding these livestock has to be experienced to be understood. They so many advantages over many of their counterparts some of which are adaptability, maternal qualities, calving ease, docility, pigmentation, moderate size, marbling and cross breeding advantages.
We breed and sell around fifteen bulls each year along with females both cows and heifers. Our motto is that we do NOT sell anything which we would not use ourselves for breeding purposes. The employment of artificial breeding along with our own Stud sires has seen a gradual and steady improvement in our cattle.
We invite and welcome visitors to inspect our cattle at any time; your inquiry is always welcome.
